Terms of use
1. Not tax advice
SOVIQ counts days from location observations and applies published residency rules that the app cites. The counts, the rules and the way the app applies them can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and tax residency depends on facts the app does not know: treaties, personal and economic ties, elections you make, and how an authority applies its own rules. What the app shows may differ from what an authority decides. SOVIQ is not legal, tax or financial advice, and using it creates no adviser relationship. Confirm anything that matters with a qualified adviser before relying on it. You are responsible for your own filings and positions.
2. Your record
The record is yours and your responsibility. The app shows where it is uncertain, for example "unverified", "needs review" or a gap, and asks you rather than guessing; the answers you give or skip shape the counts. If you switch Backup on, keep the recovery code: we cannot restore a backup, open one, or replace a lost key or code.
3. Rules and updates
The residency rules the app applies are packaged with the app, cite their sources, and show when each was last reviewed by a person, or that it has not been reviewed yet. Rules change. We update them through app updates when we become aware of a change, but we do not promise to monitor the law of any country or to update within any time.
4. Permitted use
Use SOVIQ only on devices you own or are authorised to use, to record your own presence or that of a person who has agreed to it. Do not use it to track anyone without their knowledge and consent.
5. Licence and Apple
SOVIQ is licensed, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the standard licence shown on the App Store. These terms apply in addition to it; if they conflict with that licence on licensing matters, the licence prevails. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content.
6. Apple services
The app depends on iOS location services, iCloud and iCloud Keychain, which Apple provides and controls. The record is only as good as what iOS reports, and the availability of iCloud is outside our control.
7. No warranty
SOVIQ is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, SOVIQ, including tax assessments, penalties, interest, lost residency status, or loss of data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the price you paid for the app, if any. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Changes and ending
We may change the app and these terms; the current terms are the ones published here, with their effective date. You can stop using SOVIQ at any time by deleting it. Section 5 of the privacy policy explains how to remove any backups.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.
11. General
If any provision of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms and Apple's licence are the whole agreement between you and us about the app.
12. Acknowledgements
SOVIQ includes map data from Natural Earth (public domain) and from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence; the Cyprus boundary dataset derived from OpenStreetMap that the app carries is offered under the same licence at soviq.win/data/cyprus-boundaries.json. Airport locations come from OurAirports (public domain). The app uses the GRDB.swift library under the MIT licence. The full notices are in the app under About.
